Content Area Literacy- PRABE #4

This weekend I started back on my book the Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks. I am really enjoying this book. This book is about two high school students Amanda and Dawson who went to school together in the spring of 1984. They live in the small town of Oriental, North Carolina. Dawson is a loner and comes from a very violent family. And Amanda is a golden girl who comes from a very rich family. She plans to attend Duke University. As seniors they were drawn in different directions. And 25 years pass and they unite again because one of their dear friends passed away. Tuck Hjostetler, he was a friend of Dawson where he stayed at when his house was to violet to be at. Tuck wants Amanda and Dawson come back for his funeral and it it there at his house that they meet 25 years later. When Dawson is back in his small town he runs into his brothers and family and they try to get in a fight with him so Dawson tries his best to keep his distance from them. Dawson now works in a small town at a oil rig. This book is really great so far and I can't wait to finish it.

Content Area Literacy- PRABE#3

This weekend I went and bought a study book to pass my Praxis 1 Math. I am having a little trouble passing it. I have been using the ETS The Praxis Series Official Guide book to study. I got the Barron's Praxis 1 PPST. I read the reviews online and it says good things about it. But the items are conceptual knowledge, procedural knowledge, data representation,  geometry and measurement, and reasoning. The praxis test doesnt have those items that we are tested on. They are numbers and operations, algebra, geometry and measurement, and data analysis probability. So I hope it is a good book to help me pass the praxis. I read the beginning of the book. And then I did many of the practice math questions to refresh my memory. I also did one of the review tests.

Content Area Literacy- PRABE #2

This week I chose to read another magazine. Next week I plan on starting up my nicholas sparks book. The magazine I bought was Glamour. The Hair Issue! Taylor Swift was on the cover. I really enjoyed reading all the adds about different kinds of makeup and face cream. I learned some Do's and Don'ts of the Pencil Skirt. I have one of these skirts in my closet but never had the courage to wear it. I just never think it looks good on me. But with some of the stars wearing it; it gives me some ideas on how to make it look good. I also enjoyed reading about some new trends in hair. The ombre style is very much in style. Where you have darker roots and lighter as it goes down. I don't think I would ever do this. But it is quite stylish. I also read who will be your next president? Apparently 7 million more women were eligible to vote this year. I didn't know that. Very interesting! It talks about barack obama. The magazine asks him questions and he responds. The same goes for Mitt Romney. The magazine also has all the presidents daughters. The daughters were Rachel Jackson the great-great-great-great granddaughter of Andrewe Jckson the seventh president. She is a junior at the university of Tennessee. Jacqueline Yurkoski the great-great-great-great-great granddaughter of Thomas Jefferson the third president. She is a sophomore at Ohio State university. And many many more.

Content Area Literacy- PRABE #1



I started reading my new magazine I bought this weekend. I really enjoy reading OK!, Seventeen or any cool magazine. The magazine I bought was OK! Kim and Khloe Talk to OK! WE'RE HAVING BABIES! What brought me to buy this magazine is because I enjoy watching "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" On Sunday. About 2 weeks ago it was the last of the season. So I was kind of bummed about it being over for the season. I read some very interesting things in this magazine. Tori Spelling had a postnatal scare. She had a c-section and got an infection, and bleeding. And it talks about Taylor Swift's new boyfriend 'Conor' he is a student at Deerfield Academy. Kim and Khloe go to a fertility doctor about having babies. Khloe has been trying for 2 years to have a baby and hasn't got pregnant. And Kim is freezing her eggs because when you get older than 27 the chances of you conceiving drops. Khloe has learned that she is infertile. Khloe and Lamar are thinking of using a surrogate or adopting. Also Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson is back together.

Introduction and Purpose of this Blog

The purpose of this blog is to inform you (parents/guardians) about what your students are learning in reading. Reading is one of the most important things your child can learn. So I want to let you know what your child will be learning this month in reading. We are going to go over many books relating rhyming. Rhyming is very important, and there are many books out there that have rhyming in them. We will be reading lots of Dr. Seuss books since all of his books have rhyme in them.
